Ginmon got its attribution back
Ginmon is a German digital wealth manager and robo-advisor. It builds and manages low-cost ETF portfolios for private investors who open an account and sign up online. Paid marketing drives much of that growth, so the team needs to know which channels bring in new investors.
The signup flow was breaking attribution. Somewhere between the first click and a completed signup, the link to the marketing source was dropped, and conversions could not be credited to the campaigns that drove them.
The problem was worst on iOS, where platform privacy changes had already made tracking harder. Marketing could not trust its numbers and could not scale spend with confidence.
Signup flow audit
We walked every step of the signup journey on web and mobile and recorded how source data was carried between pages and domains. This showed exactly where the connection between a customer and their marketing source was lost.
Flow simplification with the team
We worked with Ginmon to streamline the signup flow and remove steps that dropped context. Simplifying the path also exposed the root cause of the iOS attribution gap, which we then closed.
Tracking rebuild
We rebuilt the tracking so signups on the simplified path are credited to the right source. Campaign parameters and click identifiers now persist through the flow and are attached to the conversion event.
iOS conversion tracking
We set up iOS conversion tracking that works within current privacy rules. iOS signups now show up in reporting alongside other platforms.
QA and validation
We tested the flow end to end across browsers and devices with tagged test journeys. Each test signup was checked against reporting before the team relied on the new numbers.
- Attribution is restored and spend is tied to real conversions again.
- The marketing team trusts its numbers and can scale with confidence.
- iOS conversions are tracked and visible.
- The signup path is simpler and keeps tracking intact.
